Tallest Meji
Tallest Meji
The record for the Tallest Meji was set by the Sarpara Friends Club of Kamrup, Assam. They created the Tallest Meji, a makeshift hut traditionally made during Magh Bihu (Bhogali Bihu), a popular festival celebrated in the state of Assam, marking the end of the harvesting season. One of the most iconic traditions of this festival is burning Mejis the next morning. Mejis are constructed with large bamboo and thatched hay (measuring 150 feet in height), and burning them is a way for people in Assam to express gratitude for a bountiful harvest, at Palashbari R.B. HS & MP school, Sarpara,Mirza, as confirmed on January 22, 2024.
