The record for implanting a pacemaker in the heart of the smallest baby was set by Dr. Deepa Hariharan of Chennai, Tamil Nadu. She successfully led a team of doctors to implant a pacemaker in the heart of a 3 weeks and 6 days old baby (weighing 900 g) on June 6, 2019 at Sooriya Hospital, Chennai. The baby was born premature on May 10, 2019 and had a congenital heart block, as confirmed on July 19, 2022.
