Top 5 Human Formation Feats at India Book of Records

India has always had one remarkable advantage over the rest of the world. It is our population. And if there is one thing 1.47 billion people are exceptionally good at, it is coming together, sometimes in the most spectacular and awe-inspiring ways imaginable. At India Book of Records, we have had the distinct privilege of witnessing and certifying some of the most extraordinary mass participation events this nation has ever produced.

To set a record under the human formation category at India Book of Records, the applicants require precision, patience, coordination, and almost military-grade teamwork. One person steps out of line, and suddenly, your magnificent attempt looks more like an artwork. That’s exactly what makes these achievements so worthy of celebration. The discipline, the purpose, and the sheer collective will behind every single one of them are praiseworthy.

So without further ado, here is our curated list of the Top 5 Human Formation Records that have graced the pages of the India Book of Records.

A sapling of humans

The importance of planting more trees is crucial to protecting our environment. Every year, a major part of the Indian mainland experiences episodes of hazardous heat waves during the summer. This can only be prevented by taking steps to increase the green cover in our nation.

To inculcate the value of planting trees and make people of the country understand the urgency of the matter, SR Leaders Public School of Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, set a magnanimous record for making the largest human formation of a sapling. A total of   1,236 participants assembled together to create an  impactful human formation of a sapling inside the school campus.

A Human Chain for ‘Her Safety’

With the increasing number of crimes against women, the need to draw attention to this matter is nigh. The Rotaract District Organisation 3201, in association with Sri Shakthi Institute of Engineering and Technology, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, found a very creative way to do it. Together, they set the record for the largest human formation representing women’s safety.

A total of 2,153 students and Rotaractors participated in the initiative titled “Stand for Her” by forming a human chain on April 26, 2025. This human chain was made to invoke the consciousness of the nation and women’s safety.

Nursing Students Depicting Unity through Emblem

The G.T.N. College of Nursing, Dindigul, Tamil Nadu, set a magnificent record of forming the largest formation of a thematic emblem by nursing students. A total of 3,256 nursing students from the Institution gathered and recited the thematic emblem together. The nursing students stood in pre-designed lines and brought to life their enormous emblem- the symbol of infinity.

The objective behind this record attempt was to promote unity, professional pride, and to raise awareness of the vital role nurses play in the healthcare sector. This attempt was also made to foster a sense of belonging and motivation among young nursing students.

Largest Infinity Sign for Autism Awareness

Autism or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a developmental condition that affects how a person communicates, interacts socially, processes information, and experiences the world around them. Today, approximately 1 out of 100 children in India has this condition. So to raise Autism awareness in India and make people more sensitive to this matter, Marham – Resonating Resilience, Hyderabad, Telangana, attempted a record-setting initiative.

They set the record for the largest human formation of an infinity sign for Autism awareness. This thoughtful initiative united a total of 2,813 participants, of diverse groups, to form a massive infinity symbol in support of Autism awareness. The gathering included individuals having ASD alongside others, symbolising unity, acceptance, and shared understanding. This insightful initiative also highlighted the importance of inclusion and promoted greater awareness of Autism Spectrum Disorder within the community.

Largest formation of a kite by differently-abled children

During the celebration of Makar Sankranti, we all usually fly kites. The colour kites cascading in the blue sky indeed set a picturesque view. To add some newness to their Sankranti celebrations, the Sandesh Ltd. of Ahmedabad, Gujarat, decided to make their own kite, that too a huge one. But this kite was not made of paper.

They built the largest human formation of a kite measuring 120 ft * 130 ft. A total of 710 differently-abled children were assembled to bring to life this record-setting Makar Sankranti celebration.

These five formations are more than just entries in a record book. They are living proof that when Indians come together with a shared purpose, the results are nothing short of extraordinary. Whether it is 710 differently-abled children forming a kite in Ahmedabad, or 3,256 nursing students standing in perfect unison to honour their profession, each of these records carries a message far greater than the feat itself.

That is perhaps what sets human formation records apart from every other category. A fastest time or a greatest distance can be broken by a single individual on their best day. But these massive record attempts require something no one person can manufacture alone- collective will. And India, with its staggering diversity of languages, culture and sensibilities, never falls short of it.
