The record for making the smallest oil painting was set by Biswajyoti Saikia (born on January 26, 2004) of Jorhat, Assam. He painted a portrait (measuring 3 mm x 2 mm) of Jyoti Prasad Agarwala, a renowned playwright and film maker of Assam. He used oil sketch paper, purified linseed oil, a single hair strand paintbrush and oil colours to complete the portrait in 9 minutes and 34 seconds, as confirmed on September 16, 2020.
