The record for being the oldest woman to swim across the Palk Strait was set by Syamala Goli (born on July 20, 1972) of Hyderabad, Telangana. She started from Thalemannar, Sri Lanka at 4:15 am and completed 15 nautical miles (18 miles) in 13 hours, 43 minutes and 56 seconds at Dhanush Kodi, Tamil Nadu on March 19, 2021 at the age of 48 years, 7 months and 30 days, as confirmed on November 25, 2021.
