Maximum varieties of Hibiscus plant grown through cross-pollination
The record for growing the maximum number of varieties of Hibiscus plant through cross-pollination was set by Deep Chakraborty (born on October 31, 2000) of Hooghly, West Bengal. He grew 30 varieties of Hibiscus from seeds and registered two of them, ‘Bengal Sunrise’ (registered on 2021-10-31) and ‘Moonlight Yellow’ (registered on 2021-11-09) in the International Hibiscus Society. He also penned a chapter on the plant in ‘Text Book on Floriculture’ (VOL-1) under the guidance of scientists from Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya, as confirmed on November 24, 2021.
