The record for swimming the maximum distance across Vembanad Lake was set by Calvin Mark Binu (born on September 22, 2014) of Pathanamthitta, Kerala. Being specially abled (with 80% autism spectrum disorder), he swam 5 kilometres across Vembanad Lake in 2 hours, 27 minutes and 10 seconds, at the age of 11 years, 5 months and 15 days, as confirmed on March 9, 2026.
