The record for covering the maximum distance in solo open water swimming was set by Hyderali K. K. (born on November 4, 1970) of Ernakulam, Kerala. He swam 30 km across Periyar river (started from Thottuva at 3 a.m. and completed it at Aluva at 5.50 p.m.) in 14 hours and 50 minutes on May 11, 2025, with the cause ‘Save River Periyar’, as confirmed on May 19, 2025.
