The record for designing an innovative semi-automated tender coconut drilling machine was set by Dr. K. Raghava Rao, Professor of CSE, KLEF (Deemed to be University), Guntur (born on December 14, 1971) of Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. The design comprises a motor, drill bit, rack and pinion, assembly and chuck and is aimed to replace the hazardous methods of coconut cutting. The machine can be used even by the aged and the disabled people. The device was granted a patent by the Government of India in January 2018 and the testing of this device is under process, as confirmed on December 23, 2020.
