The record for the heaviest spleen surgically removed from a female patient was set by Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College of Dhanbad, Jharkhand, under the guidance of Dr Ali Zaid Anwar and team. A 7.5 kg spleen, measuring 40 x 27 x 12 cm, with a body percentage weight of 17.5 %, was successfully removed during a splenectomy performed on May 7, 2025.
