First Petrol-Powered SUV to Reach Mount Everest North Face Base Camp from India
The record for being the first petrol-powered SUVs to reach Mount Everest’s North Face Base Camp from India was set by Škoda Auto India. The two members from India, Shashwat Gupta and Suraj Tayal of Team Mountain Goat, completed the journey in two Škoda Kodiaqs, covering a total distance of 6,000 km across India, Nepal, and China. This remarkable achievement at high altitudes and across challenging terrain demonstrates the Škoda Kodiaq’s endurance and engineering excellence under extreme conditions. The record was officially confirmed on July 24, 2025.
