The record for being the fastest swimmer to cross the Palk Strait was set by Jayant Jaiprakash Duble (born on April 6, 2002) of Nagpur, Maharashtra. On March 26, 2021, in the Palk Strait Adventure Sea Swimming Expedition, he started swimming at 2:25 am from Talaimannar, Sri Lanka and completed at 11:45 am at Arichal Munai (Dhanushkodi), India, covering 29 km in 9 hours and 20 minutes, as confirmed on April 12, 2021.
