The record for being the fastest to reach Mt. Everest Base Camp was set by Sunil Kotagere Nataraj ( born on July 1, 1973) of Bengaluru, Karnataka. He started trekking from Lukla at 5:00 am on March 6, 2022, and reached Mt. Everest South Base camp (altitude of 5364 m) at 5:03 am on March 7, 2022. He completed the trek in 24 hours and 3 minutes, as confirmed on June 4, 2022.
