Endoscopic removal of plastic whistle from a child’s windpipe after longest duration

The record for the endoscopic removal of a plastic whistle from a windpipe after the longest duration was set by ENT specialist Dr. Himanshu Thakkar (born on July 1, 1976) of Rajkot, Gujarat. He performed a rare endoscopic operation on a 10 year old boy who swallowed a plastic whistle when he was three years old. The ENT specialist diagnosed the presence of a plastic whistle in the windpipe after 7 years and successfully removed its pieces endoscopically on September 3, 2013, as confirmed on June 17, 2022.
