A Man and his Tata Nexon EV: An Extraordinary Tale of Sustainability

As the world plummets further in the deep end thriving with capitalism, consumerism, and environmental destruction, an India Book of Records shining star has just proven his exemplary calibre by taking on sustainability and environmental security to etch his name in the books of time. Srikanth Kadam, hailing from Bangaluru, Karnataka, has proven that with pure positivity, dedication, and consistency, anything is possible by making a record for covering the maximum amount of distance in an electric vehicle. Srikanth Kadam is an employee of SAP Labs India Private Limited and a part of the CoE Global Car Fleet Team, and as a part of the Green Drive Initiative by SAP Labs India Private Limited, Srikanth commenced this incredible record making journey in a Tata Nexon EV.

On August 15, 2024, Srikanth Kadam embarked on the ground-breaking round-trip, commencing his journey towards making an extraordinary record from the SAP Labs India campus in Bangaluru. From there onwards, Srikanth drove the EV through a total of 15 Indian States, namely – Karnataka, Kerala, Goa, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu – before returning to the campus in Bangaluru once again on September 7, 2024. Srikanth made this astonishing record by covering a total of 8,513 km in the Tata Nexon EV, and the entire journey was spent conducting EV promotion activities and sharing his journey experiences with employees at various SAP offices across different locations in India. Getting his name in the India Book of Records, and spreading word about his noble cause through the Green Drive Initiative by SAP Labs India became a motivation for Srikanth to continue thriving over such a large distance.

Along the route, Srikanth also visited some of India’s most iconic landmarks, including the Gateway of India in Mumbai, the Statue of Unity in Gujarat, the deserts of Rajasthan, India Gate and Red Fort in Delhi, the Taj Mahal in Uttar Pradesh, and Bodhgaya in Bihar, among others, showcasing how the EV continued to perform immaculately even on the exceptionally diverse terrains and landscapes of the country. This drive, even though exhilarating, also proved to be challenging along the course due to the floods in Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh, and even through the ever-changing weathers, vast geographical conditions, the EV continued with the zeal of Srikanth’s dedication and consistence. He never once wavered from his agenda of spreading awareness about sustainability and a cleaner and greener future, as was the theme of the Green Drive Initiative by SAP Labs India Pvt. Ltd, and such resilience and hard work is what sets individuals like Srikanth apart and through India Book of Records, he was able to immortalise his brilliant achievement.

Srikanth, because of his noble and challenging pursuit, was also given first-hand, exclusive access to the iRA EV app – a yet-to-be-released app by TATA Motors which, once in the market, will help users locate EV charging stations in the area and because of this commodity, Srikanth could readily locate all EV charging locations in whichever state he traversed to, hence showcasing the development and spread of electric vehicles through the diverse states of India.

From bustling cities to quaint rural towns, Srikanth and his EV traversed expansive terrains and spread the notion of how perseverance, resilience, and a noble heart, can achieve whichever extraordinary feat one sets their mind to, and that is always what India Book of Records preaches to all the exemplary individuals out there.
