The record for being the youngest team to develop and fly a semi-autonomous drone with custom firmware and avionics was set by Muhammed Aslah N. (born on June 6, 2010) of Kannur, Kerala, along with 4 team members. A group of 5 students of St. John Baptist EMHSS, Kadathumkadavu, aged 13 to 15 years, developed a semi-autonomous drone with custom firmware and avionics from scratch, featuring a physical engine, a cascaded PID flight controller with Madgwick sensor, autonomous stabilisation layer, custom ground control unit with NRF24L01 telemetry, OLED display and full command interface, and flew it on May 7, 2026, as confirmed on May 13, 2026.
