The record for the Largest Multi-Gate Navigation Lock System Constructed was set by Larsen & Toubro Limited, Katni, Madhya Pradesh. Larsen & Toubro GeoStructure secured the EPC contract from Inland Waterways Authority of India for the New Navigational Lock Gate project at Farakka on National Waterway-1. The project includes construction of a 179m × 25.148m lock system with hydraulically operated Mitre, Caisson, Bulkhead, and Radial gates designed for 30 years of service. Built using shipbuilding-quality steel, the lock enables efficient vessel movement across varying water levels while supporting safe navigation, water regulation, and maintenance operations on India’s inland waterways, as confirmed on May 28, 2026.
