Ganesh Gimiri created a solar boat, which has been developed from normal synthetic or fiberglass boat. It has canopy with solar panels, 3 x 12V rechargeable batteries, submersible motor with a leak-proof chamber, propeller made up of aluminum and a modified steering controls system. The motor is attached to propeller directly (without axle). The modification costs around Rs. 25,000/- and the total cost of boat is below Rs. 1, 00,000/-. It is environment friendly as it utilises solar energy for running the engine.
