Patient Education Programme for Asthma

Dr Suhas Bardapurkar, a  chest physician from Aurangabad had given free education programme on three different lung diseases, asthma, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and Tuberculosis over 13,000 asthma patients through Patient Education Programmes (PEPs). When a couple got their eight-year-old child complaining about his severe asthma 20 years ago, Bardapurkar had given him regular medications. After a few days, when the boy suffered from another spell of asthma, while explaining to them about the disease, Bardapurkar realised that along with treatment, awareness was also needed. A well planned patient education programme (PEP ) is its outcome. On three Sundays of every month, around 40 to 50 patients and their family members are attending the free education programme .
