The record for composing the longest Urdu poem in the form of a Ghazal was set by Dr. Mohammad Shafi Sitapuri (born on December 5, 1963) of Lakhimpur-Kheri, Uttar Pradesh. The Ghazal is an ode to love and consists of 1278 verses and 2556 lines which have been compiled in the form of a book called Dariya-e-Ghazal, as confirmed on January 18, 2020.
