Breathing Pattern Based Sensor

Susant Pattnaik of Bhubaneswar, Orissa developed a breathing pattern based sensor. This system consists of a circuit, which uses the changes in breathing patterns to select several options such as food, water etc. It enables paralyzed/physically challenged people to articulate their wishes and be self-reliant in routine activities. The technology has a range of applications like operating a wheelchair, electronic appliances, prevention of accidents, detecting thefts, etc. This system uses variation in the breathing pattern as a means to give commands to the controller. In the present development, it gives command to chair about movement to left, right, or straight. Likewise, he has also developed a kind of code of breath induced signals which convert through a sensor and supporting circuit into word like food, or water.
