In 1998, Regret Iyer (born on September 28, 1950) of Bangalore, Karnataka is credited with having researched and discovered the world’s biggest banyan tree with the largest canopy- Thimmamma Marri Manu. It spreads over 2.1 hectares 5 acres in Guti Bayalu near Kadiri, Andhra Pradesh.
