Imli Toshi Namo of Nagaland developed a bamboo processing machine. Bamboo needs to be stripped off its outer covering for developing smooth surface to make part of interior decorations in rooms/houses, and for cups, pen stands etc. Manual method of doing the job is time consuming. But the machine developed by Toshi can do all the operations of removing the outer knots, smoothening the surface, carving internal/external and finishing at one platform. The machine has soft touch joystick, controlled operating system and enables operator to work precisely. The overall dimension is 4 x 2x 12 ft and weight is about 75 kg. The approximate cost of the machine is about Rs. 1, 50, 000. This product was developed in the year 2007.
