Group writing of Bhagavad Gita shlokas

The record for the fastest writing of Bhagavad Gita shlokas by a group was set by Shikshan Mandal, Karad in the memory of the Late Shri Anant Shridar Bhagwat, wherein 740 students wrote one shloka each in 2 minutes.

Shikshan Mandal, Karad (Satara), Maharashtra, set the record for the fastest writing of Bhagavad Gita shlokas by a group in the memory of Late Shri Anant Shridar Bhagwat, wherein 740 students, clad in yellow uniform, wrote the entire Bhagavad Gita one shloka at a time. Each student wrote one shloka on a piece of paper provided by the Shikshan Mandal, in two minutes at the Tilak High School ground on December 3, 2022. The group’s attempt made its way to the India Book of Records (IBR).

It is learned that an International Bhagavad Gita recitation competition is held every year in memory of the Late Shri Ananta Sridhar Bhagwat under the aegis of the cultural department run by the board of education, Karad. This year, on the occasion of the centenary, a program of handwritten Bhagavad Gita was organised. A group of 740 students from the four secondary level schools participated in the record-setting activity, where they wrote all the verses of the Bhagavad Gita in a span of two minutes. It is pertinent to know that Lord Krishna had given the divine knowledge of Gita to Arjuna through a total of 700 verses on the Ekadashi date of Shukla Paksha of Margsheesh month.

The innovative initiative was dedicated to Shri Anant Shridhar Bhagwat, who taught Bhagavad Gita in schools for more than 70 years. That is why this event was organized in his memory. The institute’s teachers had been working hard for a few months to make the programme a big success. The activity was planned to coincide with Gita Jayanti (December 3, 2022). As many as 740 students from Sheth Ramvilas Kisanlal Lahoti Kanya Prashala, Mangalwar Peth, Karad; Tilak High School, Mangalwar Peth, Karad; SMS English medium school, Mangalwar Peth, Karad, and Atmaram Vidya Mandir, Oglewadi, Karad, participated in the activity.

Institution’s President Balasaheb Kulkarni, Vice President Anga Parandkar, Secretary Chandrashekhar Deshpande, Joint Secretary Rajendra Latkar, President Dr Anil Hoodedar along with other dignitaries and parents were present on the occasion. The adjudicator of the India Book of Records handed over the certificate of the record and the medal to the officials of the Board of Education, Karad.

Karad, a town in the Satara district of Maharashtra, is 320 km from Mumbai and 159 km from Pune. It lies at the confluence of the Koyna River and the Krishna River known as the Priti Sangam. The two rivers originate at Mahabaleshwar, which is around 100 km from Karad.
